Founded in Keio first year in 1865. Kazukichi Yamatoya brews sake. Later, "Yamatoya" was the name of "Kazuyoshi" for generations. The former chairman is the seventh generation "Kazuyoshi".

- 1974Affiliated company Yoiboshi Co., Ltd. incorporated (Showa 49).
- 2003Began in-house cultivation of sake rice (Heisei 15), initially growing the Gohyakumangoku variety.
- 2006Switched in-house rice cultivation to the Niigata-developed 'Koshitanrei' variety (from Heisei 18 onward).
- 2006Awarded Niigata Prefecture's representative sake honor (Heisei 18).
