History
1836
Founder Shirouji Furusawa established the sake brewery in Sagae, Uzen Province (present-day Yamagata Prefecture).
1948
Reorganized the company as Sawa Shuzo Co., Ltd.
1962
Granted a license to manufacture liqueurs.
1965
Completed the "Tokunokura" brewing warehouse.
1983
Began selling unpasteurized nama sake and opened the brewery's sake history museum.
2000
Launched the company website; the Sagae Sake Brewers Association dissolved into the new Yamagata Prefecture Sake Brewers Association; released "Sawamasamune Daiginjo Hojun."
2019
Released a commemorative "Sawamasamune Junmai Daiginjo Reiwa" to mark the new Reiwa era.
2025
Began producing "Yamagata Sanka" on behalf of the Yamagata Prefecture Sake Brewers Association.
