History

1856
The "Sekizen Sake Shop" was founded, the historical root of sake brewing in Kazuno (its former main building is now a nationally registered tangible cultural property).
1872
Chitosezakari Shuzo was founded (Meiji 5), initially brewing unrefined doburoku sake for the local community.
1905
The main building of the former Sekizen Sake Shop was rebuilt (Meiji 38); its large open timber-frame structure, said to be among Japan's largest, still stands today.
1922
The character "盛" (Sakari, meaning prosperity) was added to the brand name, completing the current name "Chitosezakari" (Taisho 11).
1938
Received the top honor, the "Award of Honor," at the National Sake Competition (Showa 13).
