Yachihoko

Yachihoko is brewed by Asahi Shuzo in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, in a traditional earthen-walled building constructed in 1926, five minutes from Izumo City Station. The brand name is an alternate name for Okuninushi no Mikoto, the chief deity of Izumo Grand Shrine, one of Japan's most ancient and revered Shinto sites, giving Yachihoko its identity as the shrine's sacred sake. Originally brewed by Furukawa Shuzo, the brand passed to Asahi Shuzo in 2013, continuing the tradition in the very land where sake is said to have originated.
