Shimizu Seizaburo Shoten was established in 1869 as Daikokuya in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture, a city celebrated since ancient times as Umasake Suzuka no Kuni, meaning the land of good sake, and is now the last remaining brewery in the city. The Suzukagawa brand, named for the river that has always run through the brewery's daily life, was chosen as the first toast liquor at the G7 Ise-Shima Summit in 2016.
