Founded in 1899 in the Nishikan region of Niigata Prefecture, Sasaiwai Sake Brewery has brewed for five generations amid the Kanbara Plain, one of Japan's premier rice-producing areas. The brewery brews with a spirit of challenge, aiming to produce sake that we, brewers and locals, feel delicious, and 90% of its output is consumed locally. Historic wooden buildings with mud walls house production that ranges from sake brewed with the legendary Kamenoo rice to unfiltered junmai offerings.
