Ohmine Shuzou traces its origins to 1822 and resumed brewing operations in 2010 after a 50-year hiatus, reviving sake production in Mine City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The brewery pairs locally grown Yamada Nishiki rice with Benten water, known regionally as water for the gods, and presents its sake in minimalist white bottles that broke with traditional packaging conventions. Ohmine gained rapid international attention and has been served at Michelin three-star restaurants and at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2013, and has collaborated with Pharrell Williams and Nigo since 2020.
