Kimpo is a sake brand from Kawabu Jozo, a brewery founded in 1857 at the close of the Edo period in Taki Town, Mie Prefecture, just downstream of the Ise Grand Shrine. For over 160 years the brewery has dedicated sake to the shrine, drawing on water from the underground streams of the Miya River system, ranked among the purest in Japan, and using proprietary Yuminariho sake rice, a heritage variety considered an ancestor of Yamadanishiki.
