Kachikoma

Kachikoma is the sole brand of Kiyoto Shuzojo in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, founded in 1906 when the first proprietor returned from military service and named the brand in commemoration of Japan's victory in the Russo-Japanese War. Operating with just five craftspeople, the brewery produces a deliberately small and unchanging lineup guided by the principle of not tolerating falsehood, releasing only five standard types from daiginjo to ordinary sake. The label lettering was created by the late printmaker Ikeda Masuo, who was himself a devoted admirer of the sake.
