Akita Meijyo (秋田銘醸) was established in 1922 in Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture, and grew into one of Akita's largest brewing operations under the flagship Ranman brand, drawing on the prefecture's deep reserves of soft subterranean water fed by Ou Mountain snowmelt. This Omiki Kimpakuiri is a ritual sake, classified futsu-shu and polished to 72%, designed for ceremonial use and distinguished by the addition of real gold leaf (kimpaku) suspended throughout the bottle. Gold leaf in Japanese sake has a long ceremonial heritage linked to prosperity and purification, and the Omiki designation marks this as a sake specifically intended for Shinto altar offerings. Akita rice at this polishing level contributes a direct, warm grain character suited to the gravity and purpose of the ritual context.
