1895
Shusuke Ninomiya, the 11th-generation descendant of the Kamachi clan, founded Ninomiya Meishu Jozobu (a limited partnership) in Meiji 28 and began brewing sake under the Hiyokutsuru name.
1919
In Taisho 8, second-generation brothers Hikoo and Sonji Ninomiya incorporated the business as a stock company and adopted Hiyokutsuru as the company name.
1929
In Showa 4, the brewery presented sake as a tribute offering to the Imperial Household Agency.
1935
In Showa 10, the brewery won the top prize six times consecutively (4th through 9th competitions) at the Kyushu-Okinawa Sake and Soy Sauce Fair, earning the Grand Honor Award.
