History

1848
Tsuchiya Chuzaemon founded the Tsukamoto family sake brewery in Akitsu (Kaei 1). The brand was named 'Otafuku'.
1907
At Japan's first National Sake Competition, 'Otafuku' won the top award. The 'Kansaiichi' brand was created afterward.
2018
The July 2018 West Japan floods submerged the main house and brewery over one meter deep, destroying the koji room and much equipment.
2019
Brewing resumed months late after the disaster, and the first new sake since the flood was completed in early spring 2019.
2020
The eldest son, who had been working for a company outside the prefecture, returned home to join the brewery's management and brewing as the 9th generation.
2023
From May 2023, the 'Kansaiichi' brand was unified under the 'Otafuku' name, with a renewed label design.
