History
1822
Founded as Takahashi Shuzoten in Nagatoro, Okagata village, Niigata (present-day Niigata City) by first-generation Zennosuke Takahashi.
1919
Third-generation Unpei Takahashi decided to relocate the brewery to the former herb garden site of the Mizoguchi lords of Shibata domain (present-day Shibata City).
1930
The current factory was completed and the company was reorganized as Kanemasu Shuzo Co., Ltd., named after its trade emblem.
1945
Fourth-generation Rokujiro Takahashi obtained a whisky distilling license and began in-house malt distillation, producing and selling KINSHO WHISKY (license returned in 2010).
1955
The sake brewing license was reinstated.
1970
Began producing 'Akai Sake' (Red Sake), which was popular but is no longer produced.
2015
By 2015, consolidated its sake lineup into the standard 'Aoi Label' and 'Ake Label' brands and the junmai brand 'Hatsuhana'.
2017
Established the agricultural corporation Kanau Company jointly with local farmers in 2017, beginning full-scale in-house cultivation of sake rice.
