Tsurunoe Sake Brewery was established in 1794 in Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima Prefecture, its lineage tracing back to a retainer who accompanied the Aizu domain lord Hoshina Masayuki into the region during the early Edo period. The brewery has operated for over 230 years under the hereditary name Heihachiro, upholding traditional brewing techniques with a team of local Aizu craftsmen. In 2021, a new head brewer took the toji role and the brewery has since received the Fukushima Governor's Prize at the prefectural appraisal competition in both 2022 and 2023.
