Komaizumi is brewed by Morita Shoube in Shichinohe, Aomori Prefecture, a region historically renowned for horse breeding and a legendary source of pure water. The brewery draws on soft underground spring water fed by snowmelt from the Hakkoda Mountains and uses only Aomori-grown rice, including local varieties cultivated in the Nanbu region. Bottle labels for select products feature illustrations by Nebuta master Takenami Hiro, connecting the sake visually to Aomori's distinct craft and fishing culture.
