Nomura Jozo, founded in 1897 in Joso City, Ibaraki Prefecture, rebranded its main line from Tenpai to Tsumugibijin in 2006 as part of a quality-first renewal that would lead to a Platinum Award at the Kura Master competition in France in 2017. Gran is a flagship expression within the Tsumugibijin lineup, crafted from Ibaraki Prefecture Yamada Nishiki and the prefecture's proprietary Kyokai No. 310 yeast, with fermentation tanks held at 15 degrees Celsius or below throughout. The brewery also operates Brasserie Jozo, a casual French restaurant pairing its sake with local produce, reflecting its orientation toward food-centered drinking.
