Yanma is the specialty label of Niigata Daiichi Shuzo, a brewery founded in 1922 in the deep-snow mountain region of Uragawara, Joetsu, where the brewery uses rice from its own mountain terraced paddies and fresh underground water from the surrounding peaks. Launched in 2007 as a limited-allocation brand, Yanma quickly became one of Niigata's hard-to-find names, distinguished within the prefecture's light-dry tradition by a notably fruity, fresh, and richly textured character that reflects its high-altitude origin.
