Inagawa Shuzoten was established in 1848 in Inawashiro Town, Fukushima Prefecture, at the foot of Mount Bandai, and named its brand to honor the two pillars of sake: ina for rice and kawa for the underground water flowing from Bandai. The brewery's entire team, including the toji, hails from Inawashiro and the surrounding area, and the sake is made predominantly from locally sourced rice and water. Its premium line Shichijuro, named after successive generations of the founding family's heads, has earned gold medals at the National New Sake Competition.
