- 1905In 1905 (Meiji 38), Yoshijiro and Sato Takebayashi founded the shop at its current Hakodate location, dealing in sake, food, and general goods.
- 1943Following the death of founder Yoshijiro, second-generation Tomoaki Takebayashi took over the business.
- 1956Following the death of second-generation Tomoaki, third-generation Sakuzo Takebayashi took over.
- 1961The sake, tobacco, and grocery retail division was incorporated as Gomei-gaisha Marutake Takebayashi Shoten (the current official site now uses the Godo-gaisha legal form).
- 1979Certified as a Class A export company by the Japan Tobacco and Salt Public Corporation (predecessor of JT), starting duty-free tobacco wholesale to ocean-going vessels.
- 1993Became the sole Hakodate Port distributor for Philip Morris, starting wholesale supply of imported foreign tobacco to ocean-going vessels.
- 1995Third-generation son Tomonori proposed an original branded sake, and with novelist Ryotaro Shiba's approval, commissioned Iwate's Kikunotsukasa Shuzo to brew "Nanohana no Oki."
- 1996Sales of "Nanohana no Oki" began in July 1996.
