La destilería se encuentra en Hokuto, prefectura de Yamanashi, rodeada de la exuberante naturaleza de Yatsugatake. El nombre Takesoi proviene del primer propietario Takezaemon y del pozo del que brota el agua subterránea de Yatsugatake. El arroz de calidad proviene de todo el país, y la levadura para la fermentación procede principalmente de la Universidad de Agricultura de Tokio. El agua subterránea al pie del monte Yatsugatake se utiliza como agua de elaboración.
