Hanayoi Honjouzoshu es producido por Hanayoi Shuzo en la prefectura de Hiroshima, reconocida como una de las tres grandes regiones cerveceras del país. Hiroshima se distingue históricamente por su agua blanda, que produce un sake de dulzura delicada y textura suave, características que la clasificación honjozo realza mediante la adición mesurada de alcohol destilado para afinar y avivar el paladar. El nombre Hanayoi (花酔, 'ebrio de flores') evoca la embriaguez sensorial de las flores primaverales, una imagen apropiada para un sake de una región celebrada por su refinamiento.
