History
1716
Founded in 1716 (Kyoho 1) when the Koyama family, originally from Hitachi, began brewing sake under the trade name 'Hitachiya' along the Nagaoka highway.
1916
Won first prize at the 3rd Sake Competition under the Nagoya Tax Bureau in November 1916.
1926
Won first prize at the 10th National Sake Competition in November 1926.
1935
Reorganized from the sole proprietorship Togawa Shuzoten into Sekihara Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. in 1935 (Showa 10).
1940
Expanded to Suzhou, China in 1940, establishing Sekihara Brewing Co. to produce and sell sake (closed in 1945).
1992
Won a gold medal at the National New Sake Awards in May 1992.
2000
Won a gold medal at the National New Sake Awards in May 2000.
2001
In 2001, brewmaster Masato Matsubara took over production and pioneered a sake-based fruit liqueur line.
