What you'll need

  • 100g macaroni
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 can tuna
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt (for salting the cucumber)
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp sauce (e.g., Worcestershire sauce), 1 tsp curry powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste (a bit extra is recommended!)

How to make it

1
Step 1

Thinly slice 1 cucumber, sprinkle with 1/2 tsp salt, and massage gently. Once softened, rinse lightly with water and drain well.

2
Step 2

Cook 100g macaroni according to package instructions. Meanwhile, finely chop 1/2 onion.

3
Step 3

Drain the cooked macaroni and toss with 2 tbsp olive oil to prevent sticking.

4
Step 4

In a bowl, combine the macaroni, chopped onion, drained cucumber, and canned tuna.

5
Step 5

Add salt and pepper to taste, extra black pepper, 3 tbsp mayonnaise, 1 tsp sauce, and 1 tsp curry powder. Mix well until evenly combined.

6
Step 6

Finish with an extra sprinkle of black pepper, give it one more mix, and it’s ready to serve!

Tips

  • Squeeze out excess moisture from the cucumber thoroughly to keep the flavor rich and well-balanced.
  • Toss the macaroni with olive oil while it’s still warm to prevent sticking.
  • Don’t be shy with the black pepper — a generous amount makes it even better, but reduce it if serving to kids.
  • Any sauce works (such as Worcestershire or tonkatsu-style sauce).
  • You can substitute tuna with sausage or ham for a different twist!
