Sake Brand
Mio
byTakara
Mio is a sparkling sake produced by Takara Shuzo, a Kyoto-based company with origins in Fushimi sake brewing dating to 1842, launched in June 2011 under its Shirakabegura label. Made entirely from rice and koji with no added flavorings or sweeteners, Mio's name references the Japanese poetic image of water flowing in shallow currents, evoking the low alcohol content and fine carbonation that have made it the dominant brand in Japan's sparkling sake category.
