Kuromatsu Hakusika

by

Founded in 1662 by Kichizaemon Tatsuuma in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture, Tatsuuma-Honke Brewing Co. has produced Kuromatsu Hakushika for centuries using Miyamizu, the celebrated local water that defined the Nada sake style. The Hakushika name, meaning White Deer, earned its first prize at a national exposition in 1877, and the Kuromatsu line represents the brewery's flagship range of junmai sake. In the late 1920s, the brewery began bottling Kuromatsu for nationwide distribution, marking a pivotal step in bringing Nada's brewing tradition to a wider audience.
