Eikun Water Lords is produced by Eikun Sake Brewing Co., founded in 1881 in Yui, Shizuoka Prefecture, and named in honor of the fifteenth Shogun Yoshinobu, who retired to Sunpu in the Meiji era. The Water Lords label draws on a spring source rated among Japan's top 100 waters, and the brewery uses only Shizuoka yeast across its range, favoring a natural, food-harmonious style with restrained aroma; the Water Lords junmai ginjo has earned a 94-point Exceptional rating from the Beverage Tasting Institute.
